    ROCKFORD, IL, November 23, 2009 /Cambridge Who's Who/ -- Kathleen Kobylas, retired Registered Nurse at Kalaupapa Health Services, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing.

With a specialization in critical care nursing, Ms. Kobylas worked as a staff nurse in the ICU in Los Angeles, CA and Maui, HI. She also worked with patients suffering from Hansen's disease for 11 years at Kalaupapa Health Services in Molokai and retired in June 2009. While in Hawaii, she helped manage the infection control section of Maui Memorial Medical Center and did cardiac stress-testing in nuclear medicine there. She attributes her success to her compassion, energy, detail-oriented nature and to her ability to multitask.

Ms. Kobylas completed coursework in art at Wayne State University and received her associate's degree in nursing from Los Angeles Harbor College in 1982. She served as an organizer for the Bike-a-Thon given by the AIDS Foundation in Maui. She intends to spend more time with her brother, Dr. Joseph Kobylas, a professor at Rockford College, and possibly work part-time through an agency, continuing her work with AIDS patients.
