Kathleen Mavourneen Bennett Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

Ms. Bennett has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the education industry



    ESCANABA, MI, August 31, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Kathleen Mavourneen Bennett a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Ms. Benett celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Ms. Bennett has been a dedicated elementary school teacher in the state of Michigan since 1966, and served the area of Gladstone, Michigan from 1967 to 2005. She loves the days when her students come back to visit her, and looks forward to seeing their transformation into adults. In recognition of Ms. Bennett's dedication to generations of students, North Michigan University named her a 1988 Distinguished Alumni.

Born to Owen James Bennett and Betty Margaret Bell in Harlingen, Texas, Ms. Bennett was inspired to work with elementary students while teaching with the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine in high school, and while working as a camp counselor. She arrived in Michigan as a student with North Michigan University and began teaching in Iron Mountain, Michigan with Head Start. Later that year, she went on to public schools in the area, and in 1967, she joined the Gladstone Area Schools as a teacher.

In the late '90s, Ms. Bennett joined the school improvement team for various elementary schools, as well as the Recreation Advisory Board of Escanaba. Ms. Bennett is remembered fondly for her role as an actor and director of children's musical theater in Gladstone. Ms. Bennett retired from teaching in 2005, and currently volunteers with the local public library. She serves as program chair and historian for the American Association of University Women, where she has served as president, and which named her 1980 Outstanding Educator of the Escanaba branch.

Ms Bennett is a member of the Democratic Party, the local Historical Society, and currently serves as vestry member with the Episcopalian Church in her diocese. She is retired from service with the Michigan Education Association, which presented her with a 2003 Outstanding Person in Education award. Ms. Bennett was selected for inclusion in four volumes of Who's Who in America, five volumes of Who's Who of American Women, the 2004 volume of Who's Who in the World, and the 2004 to 2005 volume of Who's Who in American Education. She enjoys reading, walking, watching movies, interior decorating, and travel.
