MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA, July 2, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kathleen W. Duncan, Elected Official of the City of Westmount, was recently named a VIP Member of Worldwide Who's Who. This special distinction honors individuals who have shown exceptional commitment to achieving personal and professional success.
Ms. Duncan's initial motivation to get into politics was sparked by her high school history teacher. She has now gained 15 years of experience in the field, lending the last six to the City of Westmount where she serves constituents regularly and attends council meetings twice monthly. Working for a government organization, it comes as no surprise that Ms. Duncan holds skills in organization, time management, discipline, leadership, active listening, resourcefulness, and efficiency. For 10 years, she was very active with the Westmount Municipal Association, first as a member, then volunteer, secretary, vice president, and finally serving as president for four years. She attributes her success to her dedication to serving her constituency and her organizational and time efficiency skills.
Ms. Duncan has just completed a professional Master's Degree in the History and Theory of Architecture from McGill University, which complements the Master's Degree in Urban Planning she recently earned in 2011. She is also the recipient of a Bachelor of Fine Arts in English Literature, with majors in Art History and Studio Art, from Concordia University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Brunswick.
In her current mandate, Ms. Duncan serves as the Commissioner of Sports and Recreation. She is also a member of the Demolition Committee, the Community Events Advisory Committee and the Public Library Committee. She also served for a year on the Table de Concertation du Mont Royal which oversees the preservation of the three mountain summits of Montreal, which is the city's most coveted landmark. In 2011 she was awarded the status of Outstanding Student in Consensus Based Problem Solving Course Award from McGill University. Looking toward the future, Ms. Duncan plans to look for employment in the private sector, specifically in the overseeing and management of projects; seeing them through from inception to completion.
