Katie's Pizza & Pasta Osteria's Next Giveback Tuesday Event to Benefit St. Louis Ovarian Cancer Awareness

    ST. LOUIS, MO, June 20, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Katie's Pizza & Pasta Osteria, a local Italian eatery, will be holding its monthly Giveback Tuesday event on Tues., June 23 at their location in Rock Hill.

This month, the event will benefit the St. Louis Ovarian Cancer Awareness, a small but mighty group of women and men who are determined to raise the profile of ovarian cancer in our community. The group works to increase awareness of ovarian cancer, to create a place in which patients and survivors can find support, and to fund important research.

The organization consists of patients, survivors, caregivers, surviving family members, and medical professionals. They are volunteers whose passion drives them to speak out about this disease at every opportunity and to raise money and secure grants.

Ovarian cancer is the deadliest of gynecologic cancers. Each year, nearly 22,000 women are diagnosed with the disease, and each year, nearly 15,000 die from it.

"This Giveback Tuesday charity is especially important and dear to my heart because it is in honor of Ted's mother, Nadia," said Katie Collier, owner of Katie's Pizza & Pasta Osteria. "We are very passionate about this cause and hope that we have a great turnout to help support an organization that does so much to help those suffering from such a terrible disease."

Located on Manchester Road, the St. Louis Ovarian Cancer Awareness provides support and advice to those who are newly diagnosed as well as those who are undergoing treatment or long-time survivors. This organization provides care packages to those who have recently been diagnosed. Packages are filled with gifts and products that are helpful when undergoing treatments. They can also connect patients with a survivor as someone to can talk to and refer to during treatments and also someone to listen and share their observations based on their personal experiences.

On the 4th Tuesday of every month, Katie's Pizza & Pasta Osteria features a local nonprofit charity and donates 100 percent of the earned proceeds to the charity. Katie's Pizza and Pasta has raised $27,000 for local charities to date. Lunch, dinner, drinks, and carryout are all included.

Katie's Pizza & Pasta Osteria is open every day from 11 a.m. to midnight and features Happy Hour specials from 4 to 6 p.m. Carry-outs are also available.
