Kay L. Meyer Inducted into Cambridge Who's Who Executive, Professional and Entrepreneurial Registry

    /24-7PressRelease/ - Saint Louis, MO, July 12, 2008, Kay L. Meyer, Founder and President of Family Shield Ministries, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in Christian education.

Meyer has more than 25 years of professional experience in evangelism, family ministry and Christian education. She is the founder and president of Family Shield Ministries and host of its popular weekly Family Shield radio program that is heard in nine states throughout the Midwest. Its mission is to educate and equip people, through the power of the Gospel, to know Christ, grow in His Word, and strengthen individuals and their families. Founded in 1994 its name is based on Eph. 6:16. The organization, although independent and self-supporting, is a Recognized Service Organization of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.

Meyer is a popular speaker on family life, spiritual nurture, and witnessing, and has authored hundreds of devotions, articles, Bible studies, and numerous books for children and adults. Sample publications include: Portals of Prayer (Concordia Publishing House), My Devotions (CPH), Teacher's Interaction (CPH), Family Ministry Basics (CPH, 2006), Teaching Your Children Christian Values (CPH, 1994), Life in the Sandwich Generation (CPH, 1996), The Adventures of Billy and Annie: Baby Bison (TLM, 2003), Mission Field on Our Doorstep (FSM, 2004), and Witnessing-A Lifestyle (FSM, 2008). She has also written a monthly column in the St. Louis Metro Voice newspaper, The Great Commission, since 1994.

Meyer's Master of Arts Degree in Media Communication is from Webster University in St. Louis and her Bachelor of Science in Education is from Harris-Stowe University of St. Louis. Special honors and memberships include: Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society in education, Who's Who Among Colleges and Universities (1987), and the Ronald Winters Youth Award (1985). She is also a member of the Association of Lutheran Executives (ALDE), National Religious Broadcasters (NRB), and is a Reconciler for The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. She is the past chairman of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League Society of Concordia Lutheran Church in Kirkwood, MO.

Past positions include: Spiritual Life Director and the LCMS Liaison for Voelkering Village Maternity Home, Executive Director of the National Lutheran Parent-Teacher League, and Supervisor of Resource Services at Lutheran Hour Ministries. She has also taught communication classes as an adjunct professor at Concordia University-Wisconsin.

Meyer and her husband, Tjaden, have three grown children, three grandchildren and are members of Concordia Lutheran Church in Kirkwood, Missouri.
