Rickey became involved in her profession through the influence of her mother, who was also a nurse. She has an impressive background in nursing, with 34 years of experience. As the director of advanced nursing practice and magnet director for the Upper Valley Medical Center, she is responsible for managing ostomy, wound care and clinical-care treatment while supervising staff including clinicians, clinical nurse specialists and secretaries. Her greatest achievement was being a part of the team that helped the Upper Valley Medical Center and nursing staff gain magnet recognition in October 2003."The documentation and preparation that was required for this endeavor took between two to three years," she states, "I am very proud that the nursing staff has been recognized for their excellence." Rickey received her master of science in nursing from Wright State University. She is a registered nurse and a certified wound, ostomy and continence nurse.
