/24-7PressRelease/ - KANSAS CITY, MO, May 01, 2008 - Favorite local bands will headline the fourth annual KCRiverFest, a family event supporting Friends of the River - Kansas City July 3rd and 4th.

Presented by KCTV 5 and located at Kansas City's Riverfront at Berkley Park, KCRiverFest has become "Kansas City's Riverfront Tradition," known as the only place in downtown Kansas City to celebrate the Fourth of July with national-caliber fireworks and family entertainment.

"Besides our incredible fireworks show on July 4th, KCRiverFest will feature the best in local musicians throughout the festival," said Chris Gutierrez, KCRiverFest event chairman. "Whether you like rock, pop or country, there will be something for everyone."

The Isle of Capri Main Stage will include music by The Zeros, Sometimes Three, Outlaw Junkies, Retro Rangers and Scott Duncan. The two days of musical entertainment will culminate with a stirring performance by the U.S. Air Force Band prior to the Zambelli Pyro Spectacular Fireworks show on July 4th.

KCRiverFest opens at 4 p.m., Thursday July 3rd. The music will commence at 6 p.m. with "one man band" Scott Duncan. Duncan's acoustic guitar and vocals evoke dead-on accurate renditions of favorite song hits from every era, from The Beatles to U2, from James Taylor to Outkast, from Johnny Cash to Weezer, and virtually everything in between.

At 7 p.m., indie rock and pop band Sometimes Three will take the stage. The piano-based band has played many local festivals, including the Plaza Art Fair. The popular group has appeared on television shows including "Kansas City Live" and "KC Nightcap." The band's set will include cuts from their debut album "All Eyes."

Headlining the first night of KCRiverFest is the famed trio of local rock heroes, The Zeros. Known throughout the region as "the ultimate new wave 80's band," the group plays all the best new wave music. Loaded with an intense energy and the power to bring back a flood of memories, the River is sure to be rocking when The Zeros play.

July 4th opens with the Retro Rangers, an eclectic local progressive bluegrass band at 4:30 p.m. The Retro Rangers promise a rollicking set to get the RiverFest rolling.

Country music fans will delight in the music of the Outlaw Junkies starting at 6:30 p.m. Previously known as Steel Horse; the group has played numerous fairs, festivals and concert venues. The Outlaw Junkies excel at blending the old and new, rock and country along with great original music. They have shared the stage with many national acts including Alabama, Rascal Flatts, Tracy Lawrence and Asleep at the Wheel.

Playing just prior to the Zambelli Fireworks Pyro Spectacular Firework show is the U.S Air Force Band of Mid-America, who will perform patriotic favorites starting at 8:30 p.m. Comprised of 60 full-time musicians, the Band of Mid-America has a long history of entertaining the American public and promoting esprit de corps within the military. Each year, the Band of Mid-America performs for millions of people throughout a six-state region from the upper peninsula of Michigan to Oklahoma. The band has had the distinction of performing for Pope John Paul II, the Queen of the Netherlands, President William Clinton, Vice-President Albert Gore, the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of the Air Force to name but a few.

Also appearing both days on the children's area stage will be Radio Disney's Rockin' Road Crew, which will feature musical performances, games, prize giveaways and more.
