KCRiverFest Announces Entertainment Lineup
KC Favorites Julia Othmer, Walkenhorst & Porter, Among Headliners

    KANSAS CITY, MO, June 17, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- KCRiverFest aims to hit all the right notes with pop, rock, folk, jazz and country acts July 3 & 4.

Presented by KCTV/myKSMO and Friends of the River—Kansas City, the acclaimed festival returns to Richard Berkley Riverfront Park with a diverse lineup of bands and an 18-minute fireworks spectacular by internationally-renowned Zambelli Fireworks. This year, festival goers will also be treated to a "sneak preview" fireworks show on July 3rd at approximately 10 p.m.

On July 3rd, Kansas City legends Walkenhorst & Porter featuring Bob Walkenhorst formerly of the Rainmakers will play their rock and acoustic hits. KC native and award winning recording artist Julia Othmer will perform immediately prior to and right after the fireworks sneak preview.

Other July 3rd acts include local favorites June Bug and the Porch Lights; Blue Oyster Culture Club; Six to Midnight; and Red Eyed Bob. Chicago-based singer/songwriter Dan Coyle will also appear.

Headlining on July 4th will be the crowd-pleasing U.S. Air Force Shades of Blue Jazz Band, returning this year as the lead-in to the fireworks show. Other July 4th acts include The John Joiner Band; VANDELSNOOK and Lance Combs and the Honky Tonk Posse. KCRiverFest favorite Bayley Kate will return this year, also.

On the Children's Area Radio Disney stage, the Radio Disney Rockin' Road Crew and 5 Star Jazz Band will entertain throughout both days. Tom Mancuso of Sit Means Sit Dog Training will also appear. As seen on Animal Planet, Mancuso will demonstrate the Sit Means Sit dog training method.

Regular priced adult tickets are $6 at the gate, but may be purchased online for $5 at http://www.KCRiverFest.com. Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover are accepted online. Children age five and under are admitted free of charge. Only cash will be accepted at the gate.

Besides the variety of rock, pop, folk and country artists, the festival will also offer a wide variety of food and beverages. A children's area will feature rides, inflatables and entertainment on the Radio Disney Stage. The U.S. Army will have numerous attractions on-site to entertain and inform festival goers.

Recognized by Special Event Magazine as a 2008 finalist for Best Fair/Festival, KCRiverFest is in its fifth year of celebrating America's Independence, Kansas City style. Last year's event attracted 35,000 attendees.
