WINTHROP, MA, September 16, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Cruising and Racing Sailmakers from New London CT, Kevin Farrar started as an apprentice sailmaker working at Van Zandt Sails making top one-design sails for competitive classes including 505's, 470's, 420's, interclub Dinghy's, Penquins and Thistles to owning his own loft (mid 70's), Kevin Farrar has produced sails for one-designs, windsurfers, larger boats, and racing boats. In 1998 Farrar Sails made the jump to AutoCad software and invested in a Gerber Scientific Sail Cutting table. Another sail design change happened in 2010 with the addition of Azure Project software which gives his company the same computing power that the largest loft has in designing sails today. Kevin is also a measurer at World Championships in which he just returned from the International 420 Class European in Tavira Portugal as the chief measurer. Closer to home, last summer took Kevin to Little America's Cup "C" class cat in Newport, and his sails have been seen on the late Ted Kennedy's boat. Kevin is a truly world class, champion racer and sail maker.

Pelagic Sailing Club's mission is to promote safety on the water, seamanship sailing, and good fellowship.

It's a great way to test the waters with a variety of boats if you're looking to buy a boat, otherwise crewing can be a lot of fun as well. Thirty-five percent of Pelagic's members are boat owners, the other 65% are crew. "As you can see," says Coles, "the percentage of crew to boat owners is high, so the club is looking for new boat owner applicants. Plus, it's an excellent way to meet other like-minded boaters."
