/24-7PressRelease/ - BRIGHTON, UK, March 01, 2006 - Effectiveness in learning is what we're all striving for. But it's easier said than done. The doing just got a little easier though, thanks to consultant Mark Harrison of Kineo and the American Society for Training and Development. There are seven steps you should take, and they're all in Kineo's new briefing on effectiveness.
Harrison, a partner with Kineo, the leading e-learning consultancy, recently led a consultation process with over 100 of the UK's leading learning professionals as part of the UK global network of ASTD. The mission was to identify the characteristics of the most successful learning organisations. Four major traits emerged: Alignment, Effectiveness, Efficiency and Sustainability.
Last month, Kineo published a thorough and practical briefing on alignment. This week sees the publication of Kineo's free briefing on effectiveness. It identifies seven steps a learning professional should take to make learning effective in their organisation, from agreeing terms, through engaging and supporting learners, to measurement and communication.
Effectiveness can be a subjective term, so the first step is to make it objective, says Harrison. "It's not easy to get a common definition of effectiveness, but without it, you have no way to define success, judge what's working, and communicate the results".
This practical briefing details each of the seven steps and provides readers with a checklist to audit how effective their learning is today. It's available at http://www.kineo.co.uk/kineo-briefings/effectiveness-briefing.html
In the coming months, Kineo will publish briefings on the two remaining components - efficiency and sustainability - to provide a complete learning strategy master plan. More at http://www.kineo.co.uk.
