RALEIGH, NC, June 03, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Kirk Charles, Vascular Surgeon at WakeMed Health and Hospitals, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in medicine.

As a vascular surgeon at WakeMed Health and Hospitals, Dr. Charles specializes in treating chronic arterial, venous, vascular, carotid, aneurysm and occlusive diseases. On a daily basis, he is responsible for diagnosing and managing vascular disorders, consulting and advising patients, overseeing patient assessments and performing surgery to treat disorders and diseases of the vascular system or inflammation of the veins and arteries. He attributes his success to his supportive network, hard work and dedication.

Dr. Charles completed his fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Maryland, Baltimore and his residency in general surgery at SUNY Buffalo. He received his MD from Duke University and his Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University. A member of the American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association, he is a 2008 recipient of the Excellence Award for Vascular Care from WakeMed Health and Hospitals. Dr. Charles intends to obtain his board certification and would like to develop a vascular program for the WakeMed Health and Hospital.
