MIAMI BEACH, FLORIDA, December 23, 2013 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Klaus Barboza, Chief of Communication, Technology and Security of the U.S. Coast Guard, Department of Homeland Security, has been named a Worldwide Branding Professional of the Year in Security Solutions. The U.S. Coast Guard, a department of Homeland Security, is a military organization that provides infrastructure security, maritime defense and multi-mission services. While inclusion in Worldwide Branding is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Worldwide Branding membership.

With 21 years of experience in his field, Mr. Barboza is known for his expertise in command centers, information technology, and telecommunication systems. Daily, he is tasked with overseeing contingency response, responding to hurricanes, oil spills and security incidents, focusing on new technologies, training, and handling programs to deploy new electronic, communication and computer systems.

Prior to his present position, Mr. Barboza oversaw the deployment of the Department of Homeland Security network that handles classified data and worked in several federal command centers as a senior watch stander. He was also a communications and information technology integration task manager for the USCG Office of Deepwater Integration, electronics support manager for the Maintenance & Logistics Command Pacific and Executive Officer for the USCG Electronic Systems Support Unit, New Orleans.

The holder of a bachelor of science in systems engineering from the US Naval Academy and an MBA in information resource management, Mr. Barboza attributes his success to his family and hard work. He has indeed worked hard to earn computer certifications as well as a State of Maryland Engineer License.

In the years ahead, Mr. Barboza hopes to be in a corporate management role in the IT Security field.
