Kyle Sherman Teaches Trojan Horse Method Trial Presentation Skills

Mr. Sherman helps witnesses to tell their stories with accuracy and emotion

LAFAYETTE, LA, May 22, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kyle Sherman, Managing Partner of Brandt and Sherman LLP, has been recognized for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in personal injury law.

On a daily basis, Mr. Sherman provides personal injury services that help victims of motor vehicle accidents, brain injuries, burn injuries, medical malpractice, offshore accidents, slips and falls, workers' compensation and wrongful death cases. However, lately he has been dedicating an enormous amount of time helping train trial lawyers to be able to tell their client's stories with emotional congruency and witnesses to tell their own story with accuracy and emotion by helping them relive the experience.

During Trojan Horse class, a group of four to eight student lawyers and one instructor presents four to six times per session. Each session begins with a student telling a personal story that is based on strong emotions because the student will remember the incident well. It is during this process that the witness opens his or her mind to discover how to become a storyteller who transports his or her audience into the story. After the story is told, the instructor presents a three-minute retelling of the witness' story, demonstrating how to slide in and out of roles, eliminate narrative, which drags the story, connect with and transport the audience into the story. This method allows witnesses to be able to explain events important in their case and allows them to recall the memory in a way to withstand even the toughest cross examination.

Although he has spent 20 years as a lawyer, Mr. Sherman didn't start out with that intention. After attending Louisiana State University Law School, he did not want to be a practicing lawyer despite earning his degree in 1995. He also has a Bachelor of Science from LSU in business administration. While working for a criminal lawyer in Miami, he changed his mind about helping people through law.

"I realized I love helping people at that point and I have never looked back," Mr. Sherman said. "I want to be known as someone who cares for my clients first, because caring is contagious and everything else will fall into place."

Now, Mr. Sherman inspires other lawyers by teaching them this presentation skill; developed by accomplished trial lawyers Dan Ambrose and Alejandro Blanco. Besides obtaining a JD from LSU, Mr. Sherman attended the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College in 2011, which concentrates on jury trial work. In 2014, Mr. Sherman was named a Top Lawyer by Acadiana Profile. He is a member of the American Association for Justice, the Louisiana Association for Justice, the Louisiana State Bar Association and the Lafayette Bar Association, and is a former board member of F Warriors of Gerry Spence Trial Lawyer College Alumni Association.
