La' James International College Participates in Haircuts for Hope Charity Event

    CEDAR RAPIDS, IA, September 14, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Students from La' James International College (LJIC) recently participated in the Haircuts for Hope charity event at Lindale Mall. The event took place in the Center Court of Lindale Mall on Saturday August 20th 2016 and featured $2 back to school haircuts, as well as a raffle and free giveaways.

With local schools reopening just days later, and families looking for ways to save during the expensive back to school season, the event offered parents and caretakers a chance to give their kids professional back to school haircuts at a fraction of the average price.

Operating on a first come first served basis, organizers reported roughly 50 eager attendees already in line for haircuts when the event began at noon. And when the crowded affair came to an end three hours later, the participating LJIC students had completed a whopping 116 haircuts.

As an institution dedicated to providing quality education to students throughout Iowa, Illinois and Nebraska, LJIC saw this event as a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the local community while at the same time providing rapid-fire on the job training for their cosmetology students.

The event was organized by Lindale Mall in partnership with Families Helping Families of Iowa, Inc., a Cedar Rapids based non-profit organization offering assistance to Iowa's foster care children and the families that care for them.

All proceeds from the event were donated to Families Helping Families of Iowa, Inc.
