Lake Arrowhead Village 2011 Winterfest
Lake Arrowhead Village to Host First-Ever Winterfest on February 18th Through the 21st

LAKE ARROWHEAD, CA, January 09, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The San Bernardino Mountains have enjoyed an unusually early winter and that has caused record crowds to flock to the mountain communities over the holiday season to enjoy and play in the fresh snow.

For those who come to visit Lake Arrowhead Village, the centerpiece of the mountain communities, winter recreation has been focused on snow play, shopping and dining in the area's idyllic winter surroundings. This year, Village Management has decided to embrace winter in a much bigger way. To that end, Lake Arrowhead Village Administration and the Lake Arrowhead Village Merchant's Association are introducing the first-ever mountain Winterfest.

According to Rebecca Smith, Village Marketing Director, "we wanted to give visitors something special to do after the holidays that truly embraces our spectacular winter climate and environment. In other snowy regions like eastern Canada, there are wonderful outdoor events scheduled all winter long. These events draw tremendous crowds who enjoy bundling up in their mittens and coats to enjoy winter activities and crisp, invigorating weather."

Lake Arrowhead's Winterfest will offer a variety of events, including professional and amateur ice carving, a "chilly" cook off, outdoor snow play, kids crafts, a photo contest, and nonstop entertainment.

Smith says, "it's amazing when you think about it. Visitors can leave seventy degree weather in most Southern California locations, drive an hour and a half up Highway 18, and be transported to a world that many Southern Californians, especially children, have never seen. Our Village is one hundred percent open throughout the winter season, and we want to remind people how much fun it is to shop and dine in the wintertime. We think the Winterfest will be a great way to introduce new visitors to the wonderful things we have to offer at this time of year."

For more information about joining the ice sculpting competition, photo contest or the "chilly" cook off, call 909-337-2533. If you simply want to visit, you'll find more information online at LakeArrowheadVillage.com.
