/24-7PressRelease/ - LAKE FOREST, IL, July 29, 2008 - Over 120 guests attended the first annual RedHot High Tea Garden
Party benefiting the Primo Center for Women and Children at the Lake Forest, Illinois home of Quintin E. Primo III and his wife Diane on Sunday, July 20, 2008. The three-hour event, that was sponsored by Entertaining Company of Chicago, raised $13,500 for the 120-day transitional homeless shelter for moms and their kids located on the west side of Chicago.
"Words cannot express how grateful we are that so many of our friends and family turned-out to support our families at the shelter," said Diane Primo, Chair of the RedHot Board. "These are tough economic times, putting more families in jeopardy of becoming homeless. Because of events like this, Primo Center is able to offer quality services to those in need."
One of the highlights of the RedHot High Tea Garden Party was a reading of Maya Angelou's "Still I Rise" poem from one of the moms living at Primo Center.
The Primo Center for Women and Children is named in honor of the late Right Reverend Quintin E. Primo, Junior. Bishop Primo was first to serve in many areas: the first president of the National Union of Black Episcopalians; the first black bishop of Chicago; the first bishop to ordain women priests in that diocese; and the first black Episcopal bishop in the Diocese of Delaware.
