Land Use and Environmental Attorney Joins CGS3 as Partner

Former Procopio Partner Evelyn Heidelberg to Head up San Diego Firm's New Land Use & Environmental Resources Practice Group

SAN DIEGO, CA, March 24, 2016 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Expanding its team of best-in-class real estate attorneys, Crosbie Gliner Schiffman Southard & Swanson LLP (CGS3) announced today the addition of veteran land use and environmental lawyer Evelyn Heidelberg as its newest partner. Heidelberg will head up CGS3's new land use and environmental resources (LER) practice specializing in obtaining entitlements for high-profile developments, master-planned communities, urban in-fill, mixed-use and historical redevelopments.

Most recently a longtime partner with Procopio, Cory, Hargreaves & Savitch LLP, Heidelberg concentrates her practice in advising clients on land use entitlements and due diligence, environmental law compliance, and defense of enforcement actions. She is also a highly-skilled general commercial real estate litigator with a specialty in resolving complex land use disputes and environmental challenges and known for her keen intellect and ability to craft win-win solutions to the most contentious issues.

Heidelberg, who began her career as a city and regional planner in California and Virginia, has more than 20 years of legal experience in tackling day-to-day and complex land use and environmental matters. Prior to joining Procopio, she was also a partner with McKenna & Cuneo and worked of counsel for Latham & Watkins.

According to Sean Southard, one of CGS3's partners, Heidelberg will be instrumental in advising commercial real estate clients through the increasingly complex web of land use and environmental regulations. "Throughout an impressive legal career, Evelyn has successfully helped property owners and developers take on challenging entitlement, regulatory and litigation matters, resolving a range of general real estate, land use and environmental problems," Southard said. "Her work on behalf of municipalities has given her an insider's knowledge of how to effectively navigate the complex regulatory system. She is exceptionally experienced, talented and knowledgeable and will be a terrific addition to our team and, more importantly, a critical resource for our clients. We are honored to have her join us."

Heidelberg said she was attracted to CGS3 because of its reputation as a leader among a new generation of law firms that are innovating change in the legal industry. CGS3 is leading the change by creating a truly client-centric business model, employing a team approach to solving legal challenges for its clients and remaining steadfast in its commitment to providing clients with best-in-class services at a cost that makes good business sense. "I am impressed by the firm's core values and congenial culture, as well as its hands-on and value-driven approach to serving clients," she said. "There is a great synergy between my specialties and the needs of the firm's client base. We are a great fit, and I look forward to helping CGS3's impressive client roster."

In addition to her work as an attorney and a city planner, Evelyn was an independent consultant on environmental and governmental relations for major manufacturing and trade association clients and was the vice president of the California Counsel for Environmental and Economic Balance in San Francisco and Sacramento.

Active in both community and professional organizations, Heidelberg is on the NAIOP legislative committee, is a member of the Urban Land Institute's Women's Initiative and Program Committee and is on the board of directors of Home Start and City Ballet of San Diego.

She earned her J.D. from the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, a Master's in urban and regional planning from the University of Pittsburgh Graduate School of Public and International Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Delaware.
