The software provided Officer Alan Monnat of the Houston Police Department, with all the necessary information to locate and recover the stolen laptop.
The recovered laptop belongs to a privately-held strategy-consulting firm with offices throughout the United States and was assigned to a Houston, based employee. The employee's home was broken into and the laptop was stolen on May 5,2006. The employee reported the theft to the Police and XTool Mobile Security, Inc. in order to track the laptop. The laptop began to send signals to the XTool Computer Tracker Monitoring Center the following day on May 6, 2005. XTool Computer Tracker immediately contacted the Houston Police Department and was put in contact with Officer Alan Monnat . The individual was surprised to receive a visit from the Police and to hear that the laptop he had purchased was stolen. The individual cooperated with the Houston Police Department, but stated he did not know the individual who sold him the laptop.
