From raucous, straight -up rockers to smooth, multi-layered pop productions, "Odd Songs" contains some glistening nuggets of sonic satisfaction for the listener with an ear for something different.
From the darkly metallic "Never Wanna Let Her Go", to the bittersweet "Dorothy", drummer Ed Morrill(tinyHUGE) and bassist Rich Pepin (Surprise Party) have created a series of rhythmical grooves, a potpourri of auditory textures. The album features performances by The Metropolitan State Horns and The Waverly Oaks Strings, and encompasses a wide range of label-defying territory. It has been described as Roots/Pop Blues-tinged countrfiedmetal with a dash of Brit-inspired Ol' School Rock and Roll.
"Ten Cent Boogie" is three minutes of carefree fun, while "Haunted" is a searingly electric lament. The acoustic-driven "All This Magic" and the experimental "Right About Now" are standouts, and "A Powerful Love" is not to be missed.
