Laura A. Garner brings 27 years of experience to RS Investments, an asset management firm that specializes in both traditional and alternative investment management. She is responsible for raising capital for investments and building relationships with foundations, endowments, family offices and other institutions. Ms. Garner believes that her product knowledge, persistence and ability to maintain good working relationships with her clients distinguishes her from her peers. She dedicates her success to the confidence instilled in her by her mother who raised her as a single parent after the death of Laura's father when she was 10 months old. She also credits her achievements to the support of good friends.
An alumni of the Anderson at the University of California, Los Angeles, Ms. Garner received her MBA there in 1989. She also holds a bachelor of arts in English from the University of Virginia, which she attended on a full tennis scholarship. During her time at U.Va., Ms. Garner became captain of the women's tennis team, was declared "Most Valuable Player" and won three Athletic Coast Conference titles. She is licensed in the Series 7, 63, 24 and 22 through the National Association of Securities Dealers. In recognition of her vocational accomplishments, she was named Professional of the Year by Cambridge Publishing for 2009-2010.
Ms. Garner's affiliations include the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association and Milestone Capital Management, where she sits as a trustee. She actively supports her educational institutions and those institutions that seek to help animals. Looking to the future, Ms. Garner aspires to create educational opportunities for underserved children and adults.
