In fact, she had originally gone to school and earned her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Michigan in the early 1990s. From there, she went on to earn her MFA in writing and poetics in the mid .90s and then went on to earn her MSW for social work. It wasn't until a few years later that she went back to school to get her training in hypnosis. What first encouraged Laura Lee to become involved in providing psychotherapy to couples and individuals was her job as a hotline counselor. It was this job that led her to specializing in grief, trauma and crisis intervention because she wanted to do more to help people in these situations. Since that time, she has dealt with many patients who were grieving and/or who had been through abusive situations.
These days, Laura Lee's focus is a little different than before. Shifting away from psychotherapy, her focus has moved to personal growth and helping patients to find the right path in their lives. What first really led Laura Lee away from psychotherapy, was her pursuit of becoming more involved with yoga, meditation, energy practices and even working with tarot, which she uses to assist her patients in accessing and bringing out patterns that need to be altered as well as to find out how a patient can best move forward in their life. This stems from her goals of wanting to promote a deeper self-awareness in her patients, as well as develop a stronger connection to their spirit.
