Laurie McBain Honored as a Professional of the Year for Excellence in Design Consulting

    CALGARY, AB, CANADA, February 10, 2012 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Laurie McBain, Owner and Design Consultant for Kaleidoscope Designs Inc., has been named a Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Design Consulting. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

Laurie McBain has spent more than half her life in the design business and opened Kaleidoscope Designs 13 years ago in order to take advantage of her unique strengths within the industry. Her specialties are working with tiles and cabinetry and she has won several industry awards for her designs. Overseeing the practical as well as the creative aspects of each job, she ensures that specifications are met to each customer's satisfaction and works closely with talented tradespeople to create work of quality and originality. Her designs can be seen in her native Canada as well as in towns within the United States. Most recently, she partnered with Chris Salas, CKD, CBD, DID, the owner of Cocina Interior Designs, to develop A Collaborative Design Group to become even stronger in their industry and provide the most thorough design involvement for their clients.

In 2009, Ms. McBain was awarded the first-place prize in the Other Rooms Category by the National Kitchen & Bath Association Canada, and a second-place prize in the Western Canadian Region, as part of the Sub-Zero and Wolf Design Awards. Attributing her success to the strong work ethic instilled in her by her parents, Ms. McBain became involved in her profession through the influence of her father, who was in the floor covering business, and her mother, who was a designer. She volunteered to assist in the updating of a local women's center because of her strong belief in working for the good of the community. She supports Kid's Help Phone as well.

Fully accredited in her field, Ms. McBain continues to stay updated on the latest design standards and trends by taking industry formulated courses. She is a member of the National Kitchen & Bath Association. In the future, Ms. McBain intends to expand her company further, train and mentor young people coming up in the industry, and be both inspired and inspiring.
