Law Enforcement Associates Develops OC Backup System for All Stun Pistols

/24-7PressRelease.com/ - YOUNGSVILLE, N.C., Feb. 11, 2005 - Law Enforcement Associates Corporation (OTCBB: LENF), a surveillance and security technology company, today announced it today has filed patent applications for a OC (oleoresin capsicum or pepper spray) backup system for stun pistols.

Some stun pistols have very limited range. Should a peace officer miss a target or should the stun pistol fail to immobilize a violent target for other reasons, the officer often has no time to extract a backup weapon before the target is upon him or her. As demonstrated in the comparison video available for viewing at http://www.leacorp.com. Peace officers, using prior art stun pistols frequently miss violent targets in the field as the prior art weapons have a dart, which exits the stun pistol from an angled bore. Both stun pistol darts must strike a violent suspect for a disabling shock to pass through them.

LEA's patent pending; OC backup system is designed to protect a peace officer from potential injury by allowing the officer to release a disabling spray of non-flammable law enforcement strength OC, should a violent suspect come within 8 feet of the officer after a stun pistol has failed to stop a suspect. The patent pending OC backup system attaches to the rail system of the Law Enforcement Associates new stun pistol with FMT(TM) technology. After attachment, an officer can conveniently trigger the patent pending backup system to fire an aimed spray of disabling OC without the officer having to remove his or her firing hand from the supporting or firing position on the stun pistol. The system can be attached as an after market device to all of stun pistols now in use by law enforcement.

Tooling for the OC backup system has already been contracted and is currently being designed. Operating engineering models of the system will be displayed along with the Law Enforcement Associates new stun pistol with FMT(TM) technology at the March 23-24, 2005 TREXPO West Exposition in Long Beach, California.
