Leif Eie Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

    SEATTLE, WA, June 22, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Leif Eie a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Mr. Eie celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Mr. Eie has dedicated many years to Scandinavian-American relations and aviation as a community leader and transportation executive with Scandinavian Airline Systems. He served his native country of Norway in preserving its cultural heritage and history, earning the 1988 Norwegian of the Year Award from His Majesty King Olav V. Mr. Eie has also been a celebrated resident of his adopted home, and was named First Citizen of Seattle in 1977.

Born in Flekkefjord, Norway to Lars and Aagot Dagmar Eie in 1929, Mr. Eie served with the Norwegian Air Force and studied with the Army leadership course with honors in 1953. He matriculated at the Heilbronn Army Education Center studying business and English with distinction, while working as ticket counter staff at Scandinavian Airline Systems in New York City. Mr. Eie continued to serve the company and was promoted to sales manager. In 1965, he became district sales manager for the airline in Seattle, and in 1970, he became the northwestern area manager, where he served until retirement in 1991.

In his role as a Norwegian in the U.S., Mr. Eie served with the board of the Norwegian American Chamber of Commerce, which created the Leif Eie Scholarship in his honor and named him 1985 Man of the Decade. In 1990, he was named the honorary vice-consul to the Royal Norwegian Consulate in Washington. Mr. Eie founded the Nordic Heritage Museum in Seattle, and has been affiliated with the Sons of Norway, the Norwegian Seamen War Veterans Association, the Norwegian Singers Association, the Rebuild National Park Society, the Finnish American Chamber of Commerce, the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce, the Seattle Chamber of Commerce, the Norwegian Commercial Club, the Swedish Club, and the Danish Club. He is a notable member of the Seattle/Bergen Sister City Association.

Mr. Eie has been decorated as a Swedish knight of the Order of the Northern Star and a knight of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit, as well as with an Honor Medal and the St. Olav Medal. The Nordic Heritage Museum named the Leif Eie Oral History project in his honor, and the mayor of Seattle proclaimed Leif Eie Day in 1988. In the U.S., Mr. Eie has been honored with the 1976 Boy Scouts of America Award, the 1976 Ski for Light Award, and the 1977 Distinguished Service Award from Pacific Lutheran University.
