Leonard Friedlander is a licensed real estate agent, certified firefighter, and certified teacher

EWA BEACH HI, April 02, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Leonard Friedlander, Retired Firefighter for the New York City Fire Department, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in city service.

A retired New York City fireman, Mr. Friedlander was also employed as a teacher for the New York City Board of Education, and a licensed real estate agent. Firefighter Friedlander served in the United States Air Force. He was involved in education, politics, and the military affairs of the Middle East from 1980 to 1982. He graduated from the New York City Fire Academy in 1983. He protected as a High Rise Firefighting Specialist the financial district of lower Manhattan which included Wall Street and the World Trade Center. During different periods of his career as a firefighter, he protected all five boroughs of New York. Firefighter Friedlander assisted on September 11, 2001, and became part of the Funeral Desk, which was responsible for organizing funerals and memorials for the 343 brave firefighters who gave their lives in the line of duty that day. He was decorated by the New York City Fire Department four times for contributing to the saving of life and property.

In 1974, Mr. Friedlander received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Queens College with a concentration in Social Studies. The coursework included a wide range of history, political science and liberal arts classes. Mr. Friedlander's educational background also includes science and math. He attended the New York City Fire Academy and the New York State Fire Academy where he received certification as a line officer. He also became a Certified First Responder (CFRD) with New York State. He attended John Jay College Fire Science Institute for certification as a Fire Safety Director for High Rises and Hotels Motels, and Queens College to complete coursework in real estate. He is a member of the Air Force Association, the Uniformed Fire Fighters Association, the Harley Owners Group, and the Patriot Guard Riders, an organization that honors fallen firefighters, police officers and veterans of all branches of service. Mr. Friedlander supports the Republican Liberty Caucus and a variety of cancer societies and charitable organizations.

Mr. Friedlander attributes his success to his determination, which he and his two sisters learned from their father, Gabriel Gilbert Friedlander, who was a dedicated and devoted New York City police officer for 34 years. Gabriel Gilbert Friedlander also assisted in the salvage of the entire Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbor after the December 7th, 1941 attack. In 1946, Gabriel received a certificate from the admiral thanking him for his contributions to help win the war -- for without the United States' famous Pacific fleet, battles like Midway, which turned the tide of war in favor of the United States, would never have been won. Gabriel's historical records are held in the Arizona Memorial Museum's archives, and a window honoring the many World War Two men of salvage is an integral part of the museum's exhibits.
