Lights, Camera, Champagne! Gordon Atlantic Development Corporation Considers Motion Picture Studio Site Near Reims, France for Champagne Studios

Gordon Atlantic Development Corporation will seek support from the president of the Regional Council of Champagne-Ardenne, Jean-Paul Bachy for tradable tax film credits in the region.

NEW YORK, NY, October 22, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gordon Atlantic Development Corporation is considering the location for a motion picture facility near the Champagne-Ardenne TGV train station in Bezannes, France located approximately 3 miles (5 km) from Reims. The motion picture facility will be named "Champagne Studios". Gordon Atlantic Development Corporation envisions a facility similar to that of Albuquerque Studios, Albuquerque, New Mexico, (Terminator Salvation, and The Book of Eli) with an initial 100,000 square feet (10,000 square metres) studio facility, and other buildings to follow in a phase-in plan. Gordon Atlantic proposes Champagne Studios to be located at an office park with tax credit enhancements that currently surrounds the TGV train station built in 2007. If Champagne Studios cannot be accommodated in the office park, Gordon Atlantic suggests developing the massive amounts of vacant land surrounding the station. Unlike other studio developments within Gordon Atlantic Development's Sport-Entertainment-Leisure economic development plans, the site has the potential to offer amenable tax credits to filmmakers and the convenience of a direct link to a major media capital such as Paris.

Dr. William Hyatt Gordon, founder of Gordon Atlantic Development Corporation states, "Motion picture studio developers and film makers typically have a choice between great tax credits and cheap labor, or the convenience of a major media capital, like Paris; the Bezannes site offers the potential of tax credits as well as access 27 times a day via TGV in just 40 minutes."

Paramount to the success of Champagne Studios will be the support of President of the Regional Council of Champagne-Ardenne, Jean-Paul Bachy for the implementation of a tradable film tax credit. Several American states and territories offer such tradable tax credits including: Alaska, Arizona, California (independent films), Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Texas, and West Virginia. Most American states offer tax credits between 25% and 35% of the cost of production and additional tax credits to engage local workforce. Gordon hopes that Champagne-Ardenne will offer filmmakers a tradable tax credit of at least 25% with additional incentives to hire local talent. Gordon Atlantic Development Corporation will earmark funds within Gordon Atlantic Sports-Entertainment-Leisure France budget for the project.
