Linda P. Sillars Celebrated for Professional Excellence in Psychiatry

Ms. Sillars helps victims of sexual abuse and veterans and adults with PTSD
    SACO, ME, January 18, 2018 -- Linda Sillars has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

Specializing in the field of psychiatry for over 30 years, Ms. Sillars currently works on the ACT Team at Catholic Charities in Portland, Maine. In this role, she co-leads a team working with chronically and persistently mentally ill clients. The goal is to help clients gain better control over their lives by assisting with housing, medical needs, psychiatric monitoring and social integration. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner she was a psychotherapist focusing on adult survivors of sexual abuse. She helped establish a protocol for the apprehension and prosecution of perpetrators. As a AMHNP she has worked in both state and county outpatient clinics, and consulted in nursing homes. Also, she has worked with veterans suffering from PTSD. She maintained a private practice at DeWitt Counseling Associates.

Her Master's degree was obtained from a conjoined program at the State University of Buffalo and Upstate Medical University. She is board certified in psychiatry and a member of Sigma Beta Tau and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. At present she is pursuing a Post-Masters certificate in child and adolescent psychiatry.

In addition to her position in her field, she is an established artist, with a goal of creating positive and encouraging pieces. They have been shown in a child advocacy center. She also enjoys tennis, sailing, cooking, reading, the theatre and film. In the coming year, Ms. Sillars intends to continue practicing psychotherapy and psychopharmacology.
