Linzi Stoppard Supports Make Your Mark with MTV BASE

Electric Violinist Linzi Stoppard is one half of the girl/boy duo FUSE. They are the first string act to challenge convention with their contemporary sound. Linzi supports Enterprise UK to help inspire young people achieve their goals in life.

LONDON, ENGLAND, January 29, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Linzi believes ..."the electric violin can be a real alternative to the commonplace guitar."

Linzi is supporting "A Grand Idea" to Make Your Mark. She says: "It is important in whatever you try to achieve to never stop believing in yourself. I've always pushed the boundaries in my music to create something different and unique. Making Your Mark in whatever you decide to do needs all these key elements; an original and inventive idea, a passion for whatever you do and the drive and determination to make your idea happen" says Linzi Stoppard.

Linzi recommends five steps for young people interested in the electric violin.
"My five steps are:
1.) Buy yourself a starter electric violin and amp combo from Ebay. check that it works, if you can.
2.) Learn the basics, such as scales, and bowing techniques, from a couple of How to Play the Violin books, and DVD's.
3.) Sign up through a local college for some group violin lessons, and mix with like-minded people.
4.) Use your musical influences to experiment and develop your own sounds.
5.) Never stop believing in yourself, and take every opportunity to get out thee, and play live. If I can do it, you can!"

Make Your Mark is part of the Enterprise UK initiative. Their vision is of a society where an enterprise culture and entrepreneurial behaviour drive economic prosperity and social cohesion. Their mission is to give people in the UK the confidence, skills and ambition to be enterprising.

Enterprise UK was founded in 2004 by the British Chamber of Commerce, the Confederation of British Industry, the Institute of Directors and the Federation of Small Businesses, funded mostly by what is now called the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills. Back then, their name was Enterprise Insight.
They started their work with young people under a campaign called Make Your Mark that encouraged enterprising activity amongst 14 - 30 year olds.

That campaign was so successful that they wanted to reach out to new people of all ages and backgrounds, fresh thinkers who spot opportunities, apply entrepreneurial talents and overcome the obstacles to make ideas happen. And they have arranged these programmes under a new brand - Enterprise UK.

Linzi Stoppard is an electric rock violinist in the duo FUSE. In the Autumn of 2009 Linzi and Ben Lee signed a global record deal and are releasing their debut album in Spring 2010.
They have created their own sound purposely staying away from the classical cross-over cliche and ventured where no string group has dared before - ROCK.
Described as the "first string group to challenge convention" they are passionate to show a new generation that the instrument is more than the classical stereo-type.

As Linzi says, "It's completely fresh, no one thought that what we do was even possible. Everything you hear is violins! The style that we use when we play is more akin to that of a guitar player, with more soul and electricity - literally! We chose work from artists that are huge stadium acts, and that's where we want to be. It is that big and that powerful - get some ear plugs! We specialise in blowing away people's preconceptions." FUSE are already finding friends in the rock fraternity who appreciate what they do. After raving, "I love what you've done, how did you get that sound?", Francis Rossi appears on the album version of Quo's 'Down Down', Nick Mason of Pink Floyd offered his services as a drummer and Roger Daltrey asked Linzi and Ben to support him!
