/24-7PressRelease/ - LOS ANGELES, CA, November 20, 2007 -- PEACE. As we approach the holiday season, this sentiment is a shared thought exchanged throughout the world. But in politics, the word PEACE is 'thrown around' like a rag doll tossed in a raging holiday fire. Writer-Producer-Musician-Environmentalist, Jon Hartmann, unwraps the political truth this holiday season as realtiy is unveiled. "LIVE IN PEACE" - is a track from "George Bush Sings," his political funk-n-roll string of truth serum tunes on CDBaby.com/jonhartmann4, Broadjam.com/jonhartmann and myspace.com/georgebushsings
From the uncorroborated terrorist threats on L.A. Shopping Malls, the lead found in children's toys, the sad state of the economy, corporate down-sizing, slumping housing market, global warming, the Writer's Guild Strike, the Northern California oil spill and thousands of economic, political and environmental conditions (hurricanes,Tsunamis, fires, drought, floods) - "LIVE IN PEACE" is an ironic tune mirroring the 'YEAR END WRAP UP" tempo of what the spirit of the season has now become in the eyes of many, feeling more fear than peace.
"This material seems to be poetry set to grooves...the lines and lyrics have that ethereal e. e. Cummings stream of conscienceness...I'm trying to put together a puzzle of words and sounds that get to a basic truth..somehow, we who love to look the other way at the wrong time, have found ourselves burdened by a political system that is governed by Big Oil. The Groove on (People wanna) Live in Peace may not be the perfect pop-tune, and it's complexity may be more Jazz than Reggae, but it seemed to want to write itself that way...Half-jokingly, I feel that these tunes are writing themselves, that the subject of this project, is so easy to ridicule, and his vast waste of human and natural resource is so overwhelming, that the confused words flying from his mouth are pre-mixed as jokes at their origen. I have a treasure of ideas at my disposal every time this administrative baboon opens his face." states Hartmann.
Hartmann is currently venting by way of blogging on his Myspace page http://www.myspace.com/georgebushsings , where other like- minded environmental, political, music and media minds gather to support our amendments - freedom of speech and freedom of the press. It's a haven for expression to share thoughts on all the goings on of the world., that offers Hartmann some peace in warm company along with creative artistry.
"The technique or methodology of this project is to find audio snippets of OUR GREAT LEADER and utilize the magic of modern music software to cut, splice, dice, shred, mangle and frappe the words until they begin to resemble the truth. It's hard to know the real intelligence level of the President because he is so inconsistent in his thoughts and speech. A Connecticut-born blue blood adopts a Texas accent which is turned on and off as needed. I listen to speeches and the occasional question and answer farce, and wait until some choice word or idea presents itself. This is the most common form of composition, what Mussorgsky called the happy accident, finding something that grabs your attention and motivates development," Hartmann explains.
Hartmann's last album, "Pacific Electric," pays tribute to Los Angeles' long-lost Pacific Electric Railway and Hartmann's thoughts of energy, policy and interest of expanding rail service between and inside cities to promote healthier air and trying to understand the removal of the Pacific Electric Railway. His previous albums, "3 if By Air" and "The 10th House" both featured CD cover graphics which reflect Hartmann's passionate visual statement about the fragile nature of the orb we populate. He feels fossil fuels have no place in our future. "If we continue to burn them at the current rate, two things will happen as sure as night follows day.....our economy will be disrupted beyond repair, and our planet, likewise, may be damaged sufficiently to induce global catastrophe," states Hartmann.
Hartmann is a songwriter, musician, producer, music publisher and record label executive whose career has encompassed touring the world. From his first overseas gig in Southeast Asia to entertain soldiers for the USO, to performing with Ike & Tina Turner in Germany with the Rolling Stones as audience spectators. Jon was signed as a writer in 1975 for Peacock Music, where he and Jimmy Whitney co-wrote "Goodness Knows," recorded that year by Michael Jackson. He's currently producing his own works and others elaborating on his environmental beliefs as an activist and musical artist on his own independent label, Jon Hartmann Records.
