Local Author Signed to Publish New Children's Book

Tate Publishing is proud to announce the signing of local author Donnie Collins and his soon-to-be-published children's book, Toby the Cowboy.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, October 11, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Toby the Cowboy illustrates the life of young Toby, who fights through a tough childhood, and in doing so develops a strong sense of values and hones his talents. He discovers a lifestyle that he enjoys and along with his best friend, Pudge the horse, he pursues a life as a cowboy on a large ranch. The different challenges he faces test his fortitude and constitution as he weathers the storms that come his way.

When asked about the one message he hopes is received by readers from the book, Collins shared, "Never Give Up... Toby endured extreme hardships and disappointments, but never allowed himself to give up, nor chose to become bitter and follow the wrong path."

"We are excited to welcome first-time author Donnie Collins to the Tate family! His book is a modern western-style book about a boy who gets a rough start in life, finds unconditional love from his adoptive father, and finally lives out his dream of becoming a real-life cowboy. Anyone who enjoys a good cowboy story will absolutely love Toby the Cowboy," said Shannon Lloyd, the acquisitions editor for the book.

Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book will be available upon its release through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com.

Donnie Collins and his wife Joanie have been married for 39 years. They raised four children, three sons and one daughter, and have seven grandchildren. He is a retired Postal worker of over 36 years. Donnie has enjoyed writing and has written several poems in the past, and had been writing daily thoughts and sending them to his wife and kids for the past few years.

Once he retired and had more time, he decided to write a short story and send it to his family a chapter at a time. They liked it and when it was completed, they asked that he continue writing. One day while he was checking their cattle the idea came to him for Toby, The Cowboy. He began writing it a chapter at a time on his iPhone, and sending it to his family for their enjoyment. When the story was completed his wife shared it with a couple of ladies at church and they agreed with her that the story should be published. Joanie encouraged Donnie to submit his manuscript to Tate Publishing.
