RICHMOND, VA, December 04, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- This week marks a milestone for local legislative advocacy coalition Local First Virginia, which was formed only 100 days ago on August 21, 2011. The state-wide business advocacy coalition also received endorsements today from both the Coalition for Procurement Reform and the Virginia Chamber of Commerce.

This progress comes at a pivotal time for Local First Virginia, who is currently working to amend Virginia's Public Procurement Act and level the playing field for Virginia-based businesses who want to do business with the Commonwealth of Virginia and its various city and county governments.

"The support we've gained from such influential groups like the Coalition for Procurement Reform and the Virginia Chamber of Commerce is crucial to the success of Local First Virginia," says Aimee Perron Seibert, legislative director of Local First Virginia. "We are excited to work with these policy leaders as we continue educating legislators about the economic benefits of strong local economies."

Ultimately, the support of active businesses and business advocates is the key to moving Local First Virginia one step closer to achieving their goal of altering the procurement process for all business owners in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Local First Virginia was founded by Dave Saunders, Chief Idea Officer of Madison + Main and half a dozen other Virginia-based business owners. Since its founding, the coalition has grown to over 100 member companies.

Trace Carson, executive director for the Coalition for Procurement Reform said, "The Coalition for Procurement Reform congratulates Local First Virginia on its first 100 days! On behalf of our constituents nationally, we sincerely hope that Local First Virginia will continue to promote competitiveness and sensible procurement standards to the benefit of the taxpayers of the Commonwealth."
