RALEIGH, NC, November 22, 2008 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Hundreds of local residents from the Falls River and Bedford subdivisions showed support for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina by donating nearly 400 pounds of food at the Falls River Town Center festival. The benefit concert, held November 7, featured cover band Pleasure to Burn and supported the local cause.

"We know the surrounding communities have a big heart," said Bill Clausen, Falls River Town Center retailer and president of Tone Up Raleigh. "I'm proud to be a part of this area and glad to see that so many people came out with donations for the Food Bank."

Carter Crain, volunteer coordinator for the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, spoke to residents about the increased requests for donations in the area. The organization's October 2008 food distribution increased by 800,000 pounds compared to the same month in 2007.

"With need up 20 to 30 percent from this time last year, the community's support is more vital then ever," said Crain. "Falls River Town Center is part of my neighborhood, so I was pleased to see so many supporters at the festival."
