The survey conducted in February 2009, ranked participating companies by 2008 fiscal year gross revenue generated by the sale of IT goods (hardware and software), software licensing, customer software sales, professional services and managed services. The VAR 500 editorial team reviewed the financial performance of hundreds of companies, both public and private. Applications were reviewed and cross-checked against multiple independent resources.
Among those highest growth-rate VARs, the top five technologies sold include:
unified communications solutions, virtualization software,
enterprise storage solutions (SAN, NAS, disk), data center consolidation and enterprise security management software. The top three technologies that are growing in importance are
virtualization software, data management software and VoIP hardware.
