Lohez 9/11 Foundation to Award Two Students in Shanghai, China

April 7 Ceremony with French Consul General in Shanghai to Celebrate International Exchanges

NEW YORK, NY, March 20, 2015 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The French Consul General in Shanghai, Emmanuel Lenain, will preside during an April 7, 2015, ceremony at his Shanghai residence to celebrate a France-China academic exchange program, supported by the New York City-based Jerome Lohez 9/11 Scholarship Foundation.

As an expression of its expanded global vision for the future, the Lohez Foundation has initiated partnerships with two dual-degree graduate programs at Fudan University: One on Europe and Asia in Global Affairs, between the School of International and Public Affairs (SIRPA) at Fudan and Sciences Po in Paris; and one on International Communications and Media between the Fudan Journalism School and Sciences Po Journalism School.

During the April 7 ceremony, scholarships from the Lohez Foundation will be conferred upon one student studying in each program: Ms. Camille Andrieu (Europe and Asia in Global Affairs) and Ms. Paloma Moritz (Communication and Media), both of France.

Ms. Dening Wu Lohez, the Foundation's founder and president, will be in attendance April 7. Also attending: the Dean of Fudan University's School of International Relations and Public Administration (SIRPA), Dr. Chen Zhimin; the Sciences Po Alumni Association; the Sciences Po Chinese Representatives and the entire Sciences Po China Staff; and members of the China-France Club. Attending as well will be Mr. Jacob Bonk, L'Oreal China Recruitment Director in Shanghai. Representing Sciences Po at the Scholarship Reception will be Ms. Cecile Cavoizy, Finance & Administration Manager of Shanghai Young Bakers (SYB). Founded in 2008, SYB is a charity program providing fully-sponsored French bakery training to disadvantaged Chinese youth (ages 17-23), enabling them to qualify for jobs and lead independent lives after graduation.

Ms. Lohez is a dual American-French citizen of Chinese heritage. Her late husband Jerome was one of five French victims who perished in the World Trade Center terrorist attack of Sept. 11, 2001. In 2013, the French Government bestowed on Ms. Lohez one of its highest civilian service awards, the Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Merite, for her tireless support of international education to promote friendship and cultural exchange among France, China and the United States.

Last year marked the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations established between France and China (1964-2014). The year 2015 marks the 10th anniversary of service to young exchange students, from France, China and the USA, on the part of The Jerome Lohez 9/11 Scholarship Foundation. The Foundation's efforts to promote dual-degree exchanges between Sciences Po / Fudan University attest to the force of the France-China friendship. Through its consistent actions, strengthening this Franco-Chinese partnership, the Lohez Foundation has enabled students from each country to understand better the creativity and dynamism of the other.
