/24-7PressRelease/ - February 17, 2008 - World's longest poem in English literature now belongs to writer and artist Nigel Tomm. Almost all of his new book "The Blah Story, Volume 8" consists of one poem which contains 98,728 words; 449,441 characters (with spaces); 23,161 lines; 728 pages. It is the longest published poem in English. The poem is called 'My Blah Story' and it is written by one novel's character. The book was published in February 9, 2008.

Nigel Tomm is a writer/artist who consistently pushes the boundaries of literature. His novel "The Blah Story" experiments with algebraic literature, extending and intensifying existing wordscapes in the pursuit of a visionary aesthetic that encompasses all fields of literature, ranging from poetry through to fiction and drama.

After developing a literary remix (also known as literature remix or remixed literature) genre in his previous works: "Shakespeare's Sonnets Remixed" (2006), "Shakespeare's Hamlet Remixed" (2007) and "Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet Remixed" (2007), Nigel Tomm continues his experiments in literature with "The Blah Story."

In his most exclusive novel - "The Blah Story" author develops and extends methods of algorithmic literature and fractal literature. Firstly, he uses algorithmic literature's methods to generate textual pattern of the story. In the result he gets the story with fractal structure, i.e., every separate volume of the story is self-similar.

Nigel Tomm's literary phase-shifting minimalism is made dazzlingly entertaining in all "The Blah Story" volumes, which are made persuasively engaging textures from repeated phrases in the novel. "The Blah Story" is based mostly in steady pulse, stasis and slow transformation, and often reiteration of phrases or other textual units such as paragraphs, sentences, and words (with over usage of the word 'blah').

Other known long poem "Pieces of Hope" by Patrick Huet, has nearly 7,600 verses written on a roll of fabric that stretches to almost one kilometer. The poem is not published. Other really long poems were written by ancient Persia and India poets.
