Walk organizer Lori Caperton said, "Being handed a life sentence, I felt someone needed to change this. Why not me? I have watched my fellow warriors drop one by one, two by two each month. With their voice, my anger, and their spirit, I will fight for us to the end. I have organized this 5K walk in Dallas at Bachman Lake on July 18th in honor of those that have lost this battle. For research, for awareness, for life."

The Lookin' for a Cure Ocular Melanoma Run/Walk has a goal of raising $50,000 this year. This event is in its first year and will continue to operate as long as individuals need treatment for this type of cancer. Ocular melanoma affects about 2,500 new people in the United States every year, and it's time to start moving toward a cure.
