SOUTH LYON, MI, January 28, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lorelei Zwiernikowski, Elementary Music Director with South Lyon Community Schools, has been named Professional Educator of the Year by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in all aspects of elementary music instruction.

Prior to joining South Lyon Community Schools, Ms. Zwiernikowski served as an organist at St. Joseph Catholic Church, a private piano and wind instrument teacher, a wind section instructor for South Lyon bands, and a K-12 music director with Whitmore Lake Schools. She received her inspiration to study Arabic music as a second musical language from Abdul Karim Bader.
The support she receives from her community is the key to Ms. Zwiernikowski's success. She has served as Secretary, President Elect, and President for Southeastern Michigan Kodaly Educators (SEMKE) and presently serves as Membership Chairwomen for Detroit Orff-Schulwerk Association (DOSA). She received her Bachelor's and Master's degree from the University of Michigan and aspires to earn other degrees and publish a children's book of Arab music with her Arab language instructor, Dr. Najwa Aljawad.
