Louisiana Personal Injury Law Firm Offers Scholarship Opportunity to First-Year Law Student

The Chris J. Roy, Jr. Law Firm is pleased to announce a $1,000 scholarship that aims to reward creative authorship by a beginning law student.

We are fortunate to be in a position to confer this scholarship and we are looking forward to reading the entries.

LAFAYETTE, LA, January 31, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Well-known Central Louisiana legal practice The Chris J. Roy, Jr. Law Firm has revealed that it will be awarding a scholarship in the amount of $1,000 to be presented to a student who is starting law school in August. The entries will be judged on originality, creativity, and the ability to clearly convey a complex message.

Founder and managing partner Chris J. Roy, Jr. advises, "In law, as in life, effective communication is essential for success. Attorneys must be able to present strategies and explain complex issues to clients, colleagues, juries, judges, witnesses, arbitrators, insurance representatives, and more. Whether in a consultation, a settlement negotiation, or a courtroom, the importance of getting your point across clearly and accurately cannot be overstated. Developing that skill should be encouraged, which is one of the reasons why we have chosen to offer this scholarship."

Those who wish to apply must be United States citizens or authorized to work in the U.S., be starting law school in August of 2017, and have written an article that has been published in a newspaper, magazine, professional blog, or academic publication. Completed application forms must be submitted with a copy of the applicant's law school acceptance letter and either a copy of the applicant's previously published article or a link to the article's online location. The subject matter does not have to be related to the law, but the piece should be informational.

Applications can be submitted online at the Chris J. Roy, Jr. Law Firm. All documents must be received by May 1, 2017. The winning candidate will be notified by June 15, 2017, and a $1,000 check will be mailed to his or her law school by August 1, 2017, to help defray tuition costs and other expenses.

"Another reason we are funding this scholarship is that we understand how expensive higher education can be," remarks Roy. "Tuition, fees, supplies, books, housing, food - the list goes on. The majority of incoming law students already carry significant debt from their undergraduate education, and not every law school graduate is going to land a high-paying job after graduation. We are fortunate to be in a position to confer this scholarship and we are looking forward to reading the entries."
