Ph.D.s were the norm in her family, yet she aspired to be comfortable on any barstool in the world. In college, she took a class called "Dating and Marriage" and got an F. Wendy has spent a lifetime conducting undercover operations in the arena of dating and mating, earning her a rich body of data. As a recovering perfectionist, alcoholic, bulimic (failed anorexic), and dater, Wendy explores the contradictions of being a woman, and writes about her imperfections with honesty, humor and style. "I always aspired to an A+," she says, "I just didn't think it would end up being my bra size."
In her book, Ms Merrill "successfully overcomes eating disorders and alcohol addiction, only to find herself moving from one bad relationship to another. A 'serial mater,' Merrill picks men who are emotionally unavailable, selfish, andas is the case with one louse who swindles her out of thousands of dollarsmanipulative. Though she explores, at one point or another, almost every addiction-recovery group out there, she can't seem to kick her proclivity for bad men. Merrill waits until late in the book to reveal the tragedy that affected so much of her adult life, but when she does, it gives a clarity to the vibrant portrait of her life she's painted throughout.
