/24-7PressRelease/ - LOS ANGELES, CA, September 24, 2005 - Romance sizzles the silver screen when "Madam Marina," a 35 mm short film written, produced, and co-directed by Katrina Elias' opens for its World Premiere September 23-25 at the 6th Annual Port Townsend Film Festival.

Other notable film credits include co-director Gerald G. Massimei, cinematographer Blain Brown, and original music score by Federico Chavez. Among the all Latino cast are Eliana Alexander, Yeni Alvarez, Jessica Diz and Miguel Caballero.

The film was adapted from an original one-act stage play entitled "Red Colombian Sky" written by Elias and produced by the 6th Annual Hispanic Playwright's Festival of Fort Worth in 2004. "The tightest script of the evening was Katrina Elias' Red Colombian Sky... Elias has done a nice job of getting a lot of solid context, passion, and conflict into a short script."-- Star-Telegram, Dallas-Fort-Worth.

The story is a voyeur's view into the lives of an aged prostitute and young guerrilla soldier who are held prisoners in a war besieged Colombian village. The film embodies a Tennessee William's slant in which magic, fear and raw emotion drive the human spirit to salvation by virtue of a ticking bomb.

Katrina Elias is best known for writing the critically acclaimed comedy of errors, "Abuelo's Legacy" (Grandfather's Legacy) starring Liz Torres.

The 6th Annual Port Townsend Film Festival located 50 miles northwest of Seattle is on the tip of the Olympic Peninsula. The Victorian village was the film location of "An Officer and a Gentleman" starring Debra Winger, who will share the honor with husband Arliss Howard, in a special tribute following the screening of their 2001 "Big Bad Love" on Saturday night. Hosts and moderators include movie blogger Warren Etheredge, documentarian Ian Hinkle, Film critic Robert Horton and cinema instructor Dan Yezbeck.
