Lucille Cameron Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

Ms. Cameron has been endorsed by Marquis Who's Who as a leader in the library sciences industry



With more than 50 years of experience in the field, Ms. Cameron has been dean emeritus of the University of Rhode Island Library since 1992.

    HOPE, RI, February 09, 2018 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Lucille Cameron with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Cameron celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. With more than 50 years of experience in the field, Ms. Cameron has been dean emeritus of the University of Rhode Island Library since 1992, having worked in a variety of positions with the institution since 1970. She served as dean from 1990 to 1992, having been interim dean since 1989. Prior to obtaining these roles, she was the chair of public services in 1988 and 1989, head of the reference unit from 1983 to 1986, and in the bibliography and reference department from 1973 to 1988. She began working with the school as an assistant circulation librarian from 1970 to 1972, and as a reserve librarian from 1972 to 1973.

Ms. Cameron started her career as a student of the University of Rhode Island, obtaining a BA in Sociology in 1964. She then worked as a social case worker with the Rhode Island Department of Public Assistance from 1963 to 1970. She went on to earn an MS in Library Sciences from the University of Rhode Island in 1972.

As a respected leader in the industry, Ms. Cameron earned a number of awards for her contributions. She is a three-time recipient of the Computerized Integrated Library and System Award from Champlin Foundations, and the U.S. Department of Education recognized her with the College Tech. Library Program Award. She also earned a Distinguished Alumna Award from the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies from the University of Rhode Island. However, one of the biggest highlights of Ms. Cameron's career was helping to oversee a $13 million expansion of the library.
