/24-7PressRelease/ - February 19, 2007 - The Internet buzz on "Major Hana" - The Movie has been growing at a blinding speed for months and the curiosity level amongst MySpace users and Web 2.0 enthusiasts, has created a feverish curiosity on this Fall 2007 release.
Christmas Day, 2006, Major Hana Records and Major Hana Productions jointly announced 2 unique MySpace contests, "Gladiators Amongst Men", and "Major Tracks". "Gladiators" is open to the 3 million plus bands on MySpace and offers a unique opportunity for a band/recording artist to place an original song on the "Major Hana" soundtrack, and in the film. Submissions can be made by contacting http://www.myspace.com/majorhanarecords until July 31, 2007. The winners will be announced on August 15, 2007. "Major Tracks" offers 2 roundtrip airline tickets, 2 nights hotel accommodation, and 2 tickets to the London premiere of "Major Hana", to the first person to post the entire tracklisting of the film's soundtrack. Clues about each artist/band and titles for each song on the "Major Hana" soundtrack will be left periodically on http://www.myspace.com/majorhanathemovie. Winners will be announced on August 15, 2007.
Major Hana Productions is working with Shawnald Consultations, a leading Web 2.0 Internet consultant based on Maui, Hawaii. "We are receiving songs every day on the http://www.myspace.com/majorhanarecords Website, and we have been surprised by the quality of the submissions," says Maui's guitar/ukulele ace, and Major Hana Records in House producer, Vince Esquire. "We have received songs from over 25 countries and now we are even considering putting out a "Best Of The Gladiators" compilation record."
"We were seen by director Peter Farrelly, who, with his brother Peter, produced and directed "Something About Mary", "Kingpin", and "Dumb and Dumber" in LA last year and then he casted us to be the wedding band in the upcoming Farrelly Brothers/Ben Stiller comedy, "The Heartbreak Kid", and they are using original Kanekoa songs too," offers Shawn Michael, bass player in the Maui band, Kanekoa. "It's great to be involved in a contest that is offering a similar opportunity to the over 3 million bands on MySpace, many of whom will never even make it to LA to play a gig, ever."
