MIAMI BEACH, FL, October 12, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- If we're to believe ABC's new series Cougar Town, then 40something divorced women are desperate, sex starved, and pathetic when it comes to relationships. Yet, Cougars are fashionable, and have been since Sex and the City's Samantha Jones got into her first successful relationship with a younger model, and when Ashton Kutcher married Demi Moore a couple of years ago. So when the marketing team at ABC began their big summer push to watch their new dating drama starring Courtney Cox Arquette, leading online dating sites Date.com (http://www.date.com), Matchmaker.com (http://www.matchmaker.com), and Amor.com (http://www.amor.com), decided to poll its members to see what they think about Cougars and dating.

Perhaps the recession drove majority of single male responses, as 85% said the appeal of an older woman is financial. Majority prefer to date Cougars because either she has enough money to take care of him, or she has enough money that he doesn't need to take care of her. 72% felt that Cougars were also just really easy to get into bed. Women, meanwhile, chase younger men to make themselves feel better about their advanced age. 95% like dating younger men because it's less complicated and there's no commitment or family pressure, while 89% said it made them feel young and desirable to be able to date a younger guy.

In a new survey of thousands of male online daters nationwide, conducted in the month of September, we asked: This Fall's new series, Cougar Town, is about 40something women of power who date younger men. What is the appeal of an older woman?

Following are the complete results:

They have a lot of money and can take care of me: 85%
They have a lot of money and don't need me to take care of them: 81%
They're desperate and so much easier to get in bed: 72%
They are more confident in bed: 65%
I wouldn't know, I believe in dating women around my age, not older than me: 12.4%
