BROMLEY, ENGLAND, June 07, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/
-- With Father's Day fast approaching, sons and daughters are being urged to steer away from the traditional gifts of socks, ties and DVD's and so on, and instead give Dad a gift that is truly priceless - their undivided attention!
Member-focused financial services organisation Foresters
is challenging families to take a break from technology and enjoy spending quality time with Dad, without the distractions of the TV, tablets, and smartphones etc.
This is their latest initiative in their ongoing Tech Timeout
campaign, which was launched last year and encourages families to pledge to spend at least one hour a day together without technology.
With recent research* showing children spend around 50 hours a week using technology, and adults spending even more time plugged in at 64 hours a week, it is clear that the use of digital devices may well be encroaching on family time.
Taking a Tech Timeout not only allows families to reconnect with each other and enjoy some quality time together, but can benefit health and well-being too.
Steve Dilworth, Managing Director, Member Network UK Foresters, comments: "We are urging families to make the effort to spend some quality time together this Father's Day, whether it is walking the dog, playing a game of cards, or cooking Dad's favourite meal - anything as long as it's technology-free.
"The Tech Timeout challenge was launched to help families remember what's important, because, after all, the best family memories are created when we have shared experiences. Father's Day is a perfect time to start creating new memories."
Foresters have launched a Tech Timeout video in time for Father's Day, which can be viewed here: http://bit.ly/1oTdHzd
