Malvina F. Baica, Ph.D., Recognized for Discoveries in Mathematics

    WHITEWATER, WI, February 13, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Malvina F. Baica, PhD., Professor in Mathematics has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Widely regarded as a mathematics professor and researcher, Dr. Baica began a career in mathematics upon graduating from the University of Timisoara with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics and physics in 1964. In 1965, she received a Master of Science in mathematics and mechanics before coming to the United States in 1968. Dr. Baica received a Master of Science in teaching mathematics from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1974, before assuming the role of assistant professor with Western Illinois University. In 1980 she received her Ph.D. in mathematics (universal algebra and algebraic number theory) at the University of Houston. For more than a decade, she held various assistant professor positions at universities throughout the United States, which included Marquette University, Marshall University, Valparaiso University and the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater. In 1989, Dr. Baica was promoted to associate professor with the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater, a position she held for three years before becoming a professor in 1992.

A respected voice in the field of mathematics, Dr. Baica is credited with the discovery of Baica's trigonometric identities, where Gauss' two identities given without proof become particular cases of Baica's proved trigonometric identities. Her achievements include the development of an algorithm in a complex field, known as Baica's Generalized Euclidean Algorithm (BGEA), which turned out to be the generalization of the original Euclidean Algorithm and The Euler System of the Algebraic Number Theory used to approach unsolved problems in algebraic number theory and number theory, including Fermat's Last Theorem in Euclidian. In addition, she collaborated with Mircea Cardu to introduce and develop the non-classical trigonometries, which led to the invention of paratrigonometry as a new mathematical branch. The classical Trigonometry is a particular case of this new Trigonometry. Along with Mircea Cardu, Dr. Baica introduced dual and bi-polar mathematical models and reduced the physics formulas by half. The same mathematical model is used to introduce the basic formulas in the quantum programming for the Quantum computers (QC) versus the basic formulas in the linear programming for the classical computers (CC). Also, the same model was used to do research regarding celestial mechanics.

Since the inception of her career, Dr. Baica has contributed more than 80 articles to professional journals on algebraic number theory, number theory, computer science and engineering. She is the author of four books with original research, including "The Euler System for the Algebraic Number Theory and Mathematical Models in pollution" in 2000, "The Algorithmic Solution of the Original Euclidean Fermat's Last Theorem" in 2001, "Several Star Problems in Analytic Number Theory" in co-authorship with with A. Peretti, where she gave the solution of Goldbach Problem, in 2005 and with M. Cardu, "The Paratrigonometry" in 2010. In addition to her formal education, Dr. Baica received an honorary diploma from the Romanian Astra Association in 2003. She was also named the recipient of the University of Wisconsin Excellence in Research Award in 1988. Throughout the course of her career, Dr. Baica has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in the World. She was also selected for inclusion in the 1st, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th editions of Who's Who in Science and Engineering, as well as the 25th through 28th editions of Who's Who of American Women.
