HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA, November 02, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Man K-9 Police Dog Training experienced a change of location on October 25, 2017. The training, which normally takes place in the Oceanside/Carlsbad area, was held in Huntington Beach.

Training police dogs is a specialized type of training that is only carried out by those who have a long track record of working with dogs that are used in police K-9 units. These dogs are taught specific commands using techniques that do not apply to family dogs. They must be able to work in any condition without allowing themselves to be distracted. This is one of the reasons Huntington Beach was an ideal location for Man K-9 training on that Wednesday in October.

Police dogs were trained in an open area that allowed the simulation of real working days. The K-9 team was deployed from a helicopter, which was then landed in order to create a true-to-life environment. Dogs were trained around live gun fire in order to become accustomed to these loud, sudden sounds.

In another scenario, police dogs were placed with a stack of officers as well as blank gunfire. Because police dogs work in multiple types of environments, it is vital to teach them how to behave regardless of the situation.

The Huntington Beach K-9 unit is sponsored by The Boeing Company, the world's largest aerospace company. Thanks to Boeing, we were able to carry out training scenarios in their building. This gave police dogs yet another excellent location to learn how to carry out their daily duties without distraction or stress.

Samuel Hay, Oceanside Police Officer and K-9 Handler said, "Training with Man K-9 affords us the opportunity to train with multiple other agencies. We are very thankful that Huntington Beach hosted this extended training day which exposed our dogs to a helicopter flight as well as new training areas."

Man K-9 is a dog training facility based out of San Diego, California. Along with training police dogs, Man K-9 offers training for protection dogs, puppies and obedience and control. Training Director Manuel Villanueva has over 30 years of experience training dogs. He is one of the most sought after dog trainers in the United States.
