Dr. Han has been teaching as a professor in civil engineering at Ajou University, a major university located in Suwon, Republic of Korea, since 1990. Well-known in the community as more than just a professor and civil engineer, he also established two engineering and construction companies which are InterConsTec, Inc. in 1999 and SupporTec, Inc. in 2003 as owner.
Elected as president of the Asian Concrete Federation(ACF) in 2015, Dr. Han spearheaded the organization for two years. During his years as president, he played a central role in leading its overall growth. One way in which he contributed to the organization's growth was in 2014 when he served as chairman of the ACF International Organizing Committee(IOC). He contributed to enhancing the reputation of the conference by inviting 360 professors and educators, Presidents of top three International Concrete Federations, and 12 world-renowned scholars, as well as accepting 260 papers from 32 countries.
Dr. Han is a Fellow Member of the American Concrete Institute(ACI), and a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers(ASCE) and the International Federation for Structural Concrete(fib), and a vice President of the Korea Concrete Institute(KCI) and the Korean Society of Civil Engineers(KSCE), and a member of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea(NAEK), and a convener of International Organization for Standardization(ISO). Dr. Han has been an advisory board member for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MLIT) and Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries (MOF), Kyongki-do Province, Seoul City, Suwon City, Korea Railroad Co., Seoul Metro Co. and more Public Organizations.
Dr. Han received the best engineering article awards by Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies(KOFST) in 1994 and by Korean Society of Civil Engineering(KSCE) in 2002, and Korea Ten Best Technology Awards in 2000 and 2007, and Prime Minister Award in 2005 and 2009, Vice Prime Minister Awards in 2006 and 2007, and more National Awards.
A certified engineer since 1979, Dr. Han completed his Bachelor's degree in 1980 and Master's degree in 1982 at Seoul National University. He served his country as a second lieutenant for the Third Military Academy in Republic of Korea, in 1982, later completing a PhD at Texas A&M University in 1988. Receiving over a dozen awards in his field, Dr. Han also holds more than 200 patents and published more than 70 peer reviewed papers, 160 conference papers, and 100 research reports, and has been featured in the first edition of Who's Who in Asia and the ninth edition of Who's Who in Science and Engineering.
