PHILADELPHIA, PA, May 18, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Manak Gupta has been included in Marquis Who's Who. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

A lifelong academician, Manak Gupta has been a member of the faculty at Temple University in Bryn Mawr, Pa. since 1973. He joined the school as an associate professor of finance, and has been a full professor since 1975. Manak Gupta is highly knowledgeable regarding many areas of financing, including debt financing, equity financing, bond financing and short-term financing. He teaches within the university's Fox School of Business.

Manak Gupta's own educational foundation includes a Ph.D. in finance, earned in 1967, an MBA in finance, earned in 1966 both from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he was also a teaching assistant; he received his MA and Ph.D in record time. Manak Gupta did his MBA in four majors with 3.92 GPA in one year and he finished his Ph.D. after that in one year and 3 months. Out of his dissertation he published two papers in major journals: the Journal of Finance and the Journal of Accounting Research. The paper published in the Journal of Finance drew so much attention in Europe that researchers from several countries asked for his help in doing a study like that for their countries. The editor of an Italian journal asked his permission to translate his paper in Italian and publish in his journal. He did that and sent him a copy of the paper translated into Italian and published in his Italian journal. "Effecto delle dimensioni, del grado di sviluppo del Seltore Sulla Srruttura Finanziaria delle impresse" in the Italian journal Industriali Sviluwo a Organizzazione, September, 1970.

After graduation, Manak Gupta began teaching finance at The Pennsylvania State University. He taught for the State University of New York at Buffalo for four years prior to joining the staff at Temple University.
In addition to his roles in the classroom, Manak Gupta has served as a member of the Eastern Finance Association's Program Committee. He has also contributed chapters to finance books and published articles in the several best journals in the field, drawing attention from various European countries, especially Italy. Editors of some other quality journals were so impressed that they asked Manak Gupta to submit his article for their journals for publication, a very highly unusual step. He is currently working on a model deriving optimal financing for a firm. The model includes debt financing and equity financing. This is an extension of the model published in Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, 26, 177-199.

He has also been a reviewer for various journals and was an editorial board member of the Journal of Business & Financial Affairs. He has been invited to chair sessions in the Annual Meetings of the American Finance Association, Financial Management Association and Eastern Finance Association from time to time. From 2009 to 2010, Manak Gupta was a member of the Research and Creative Awards committee. As a result of his accomplishments in the field of academia, Manak Gupta was chosen to be featured in the 65th edition of Who's Who in America and the 28th edition of Who's Who in the World. He is married, and has two sons, and grandchildren. His elder son was selected by The U.S. Presidential Commission to come to the White House and Manak Gupta and his wife were also invited to come along with him. There on the south lawn of the White House, President Reagan came and presented his son with a Gold Medal. Following the presentation of the Gold Medal by President Reagan they invited his son to a reception at the State Department. There of all the Gold Medal winners, they selected two essays to read aloud; the essay written by his son was one of the two and read loud. Following this his elder son was invited to come to Harrisburg by the PA State Education secretary who organized a gathering in his honor and presented him an Award. He is now chairman of the Urology Department of three major hospitals in New York including Mount Sinai. Manak Gupta's grandson was one of the top three tennis players recognized by the United States Association in his age group and the one year higher age group. This grandson was also invited to play drums at Avery Fisher Hall in New York. His granddaughter when 12 was invited to play drums at Carnegie Hall in New York. His older granddaughter has been selected in the Pre-Medical program at Harvard University. Manak Gupta's younger son applied for a medical residency at Harvard Medical School; no medical school is supposed to let you know before a certain date whether you will or will not be selected. In his younger son's case Harvard Medical School made an exception and the chairman wrote his son a letter before the deadline telling his son that the Faculty of Harvard Medical School looked forward to his coming over there for residency. When he went for a medical fellowship to John Hopkins, the director of the Fellowship Program took his son out for dinner and asked him what they can do for him to come there and do a medical fellowship. Manak Gupta's wife has two Ph.Ds, one from Penn State University and the other from Drexel University in Philadelphia. He aims for continued professional achievements as he moves forward in his career.
