/24-7PressRelease/ - MOSCOW, RUSSIA, March 02, 2006 - In Moscow, Russia, took place The First National Contest in the Sphere of Mergers and Acquisitions "MandA Award - 2005". In the framework of the award were set 6 nominations in mergers and acquisitions and investment banking: best investment bank, best IPO manager, best bonds manager, best bills manager, best MandA consultant, and the deal of the year on the MandA market.
MandA Award is organized by ICG «ConsultProm» and has an aim to attract attention to the Russian MandA and investment banking services market, to contribute to increasing of its transparency, and to stimulate participants of MandA market to further increasing of their professional level.
In rating nominees were taken into consideration quantitative and qualitative factors - number of deals, volume of deals, expert judgment, public citing index.
COMMENTARY

MandA Award is the first contest in this sphere in Russia. In MandA Award - 2005 were set 6 nominations, most of them are connected with investment banking. More and more companies in Russia use services of consultants in realizing MandA deals, and it improves the quality of such deals. Investment banking business, in my opinion, soon would be the main participant of Russian MandA Market.
The results of the contest have practical value, because they determine the best companies on the market, and the companies that would like to use services in MandA can choose the best one on the Russian market. The results show that the main leaders in Russia are foreign investment banks (more than 75% of leading positions, except for nomination "Best Bills Manager"). The best Russian companies are Vneshtorgbank and Alfa-Bank.
In MandA Award-2006 ConsultProm plans to increase the number of nominations. Also we plan to get partner to take part in organizing the Award and increase the number of experts, whose opinion would be taken into consideration in rating nominees. We invite companies to cooperation.

Russian mergers and acquisitions market nowadays has tendency to move towards increasing its transparency and efficiency. Companies more often use public market to attract money for MandA financing. World leaders became the leaders on Russian market, but step-by-step Russian companies win back positions. I think that in the near future reinforcement of Russian investment banks will continue and we will see more Russian companies among The MandA Award leaders.
The best investment bank in 2005 became Morgan Stanley. The deal of the year on MandA market, as the largest and the most significant, became the acquisition of "Sibneft" by "Gazprom".
