Manhattan's First Professional Golf Tournament Goes "USA"
The Manhattan Golf Classic took a major national leap forward with the signing of USA TODAY as the National Print Media of the Manhattan Golf Classic.

    /24-7PressRelease/ - NEW YORK, NY, September 22, 2006 - The Manhattan Golf Classic (www.manhattangolfclassic.com) took a major national leap forward today with the signing of one of the most prestigious newspapers in the country, USA TODAY.

USA Today (www.usatoday.com) and event management group ArenaCorp Holdings (www.thearenacorp.com) announced this partnership for the first ever professional golf tournament in the history of New York City which will be staged this Fall on historic Governors Island.

Assuming the designation of Official National Print Media Partner of the Manhattan Golf Classic, USA TODAY will provide readers across the country unique tournament information as well as valuable discounts on admission and Champions VIP passes through advertising in regional and national issues.

The event will take place October 22, 2006, and features Legendary Golfer Tom Watson and Mr. New York Donald Trump teeing off against World #1 Annika Sorenstam and LPGA Sensation Natalie Gulbis in a veritable battle of the sexes Skins Game.

"USA TODAY takes pride in not only promoting the event but supporting its two primary charities, Toys for Hospitalized Children and The Academy for Sports Marketing in Harlem," said Barbara Matthews, Director of Event Marketing at USA Today. The advertisements that are being placed in national and regional editions of the newspaper are read by an estimated 5.2 million people every day. Special advertising inserts are also being put into issues of USA Today featuring the Manhattan Golf Classic.

The partnership spans a variety of mediums. In addition to newspapers, the Manhattan Golf Classic will also be partnering with the syndicated television division of USA Today known as USA Today Live in broadcasting segments of the Classic.
